Broomes Island Southern Maryland Bike Route
The Broomes Island Southern Maryland bike route is a great destination for a moderate cycling outing. Ample parking opportunities exist as you exit Rt 4 onto Broomes Island Road. As you can see from the mapmyride.com map below you will have a mild elevation change as you head south on Broomes Island Rd. towards Broomes Island.
You will find wide, welcoming shoulders until you reach Broomes Island proper. Once you reach Broomes Island the speed limit drops to 25mph and the lack of shoulders is not a problem. You will be treated to fantastic waterviews of the Patuxent River as you cycle the full length of this Broomes Island Southern Maryland bike route.
There is a great rest stop at the Nan’s Cove canoe and kayak launch (open dawn to dusk). You will be treated to some great waterviews. And if you need a bite to eat stop into Stoney’s restaurant on the island – you won’t be disappointed with their crab cakes.
Plenty of opportunities exist to add side roads to create a more challenging route.
